Uxbridge Road breaches air quality limits

The council started testing air quality on Uxbridge Road in April 2017 after pressure from the Green Party. The results almost one year on are not looking good.

The national air quality objectives set a limit of 40µg/m3 of Nitrogen Dioxide in the air. The average (non-biased adjusted) results from the test tubes this year shows a reading of 56.75µg/m3.

This raw data shows the ‘safe’ limits are being exceeded by over 40%.

Scientific studies have shown that long-term exposure to air pollution may lead to an earlier onset of Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

The Green Party are calling on Three Rivers District Council to commission a detailed assessment as a matter of urgency.
